Welcome

Quiet places, well made

The Tinto Collective is a small and growing collection of carefully restored buildings in rural Scotland, each with its own history and its own character, brought back to life with craftsmanship and patience.

For people who notice the details.

Stay with us

“In the nineteenth century the people of Braemar moved into wee houses in their gardens each summer and gave their cottages over to visitors. We are carrying that tradition forward, one building at a time.”

Our Story

Restored, not renovated

Every building in the collective is brought back by our own team: joiners, tilers and decorators who have worked together for years, led by people who read heritage statements for pleasure.

We use lime mortar where lime mortar belongs, keep the original sash windows, and choose every tap, tile and paint colour ourselves. The result is somewhere that feels like it has always been this way.
